One of the earliest domesticated microorganisms, occurs naturally on the skins of grapes, leading to the discovery of alcoholic drinks such as wine. The earliest archeological evidence for a dominant position of wine-making in human culture dates from 8,000 years ago in Georgia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The European wine grape , also known as <i><a title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Vitis_vinifera\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vitis vinifera<\/a><\/i> , originated in an unexpected place named the \u00a0<a title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Caucasus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Caucasus<\/a> Mountains and the \u00a0<a title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Zagros_Mountains\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Zagros Mountains<\/a> . These mountain ranges span from Armenia through Azerbaijan, Georgia , northern Iran\u00a0 , southeastern Anatolia and eastern Turkey.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">People who made the first wine were from the Shulaveri-Shomu culture .The name &#8216;Shulaveri-Shomu&#8217; comes from the town of Shulaveri, in the Republic of Georgia, known since 1925 as\u00a0<a title=\"Shaumiani\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Shaumiani\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Shaumiani<\/a>, and Shomu-Tepe, in the\u00a0<a title=\"Agstafa District\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Agstafa_District\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Agstafa District<\/a>\u00a0of\u00a0<a title=\"Azerbaijan\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Azerbaijan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Azerbaijan<\/a>. People of Stone Age who used obsidian for tools , raised cattle and pigs , and most importantly , grew grapes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The oldest-known\u00a0<a title=\"Winery\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Winery\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">winery<\/a>\u00a0was discovered in the\u00a0<a title=\"Areni-1 winery\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Areni-1_winery\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8220;Areni&#8221; cave<\/a>\u00a0in\u00a0<a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Vayots Dzor\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Vayots_Dzor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vayots Dzor<\/a>,\u00a0<a title=\"Armenia\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Armenia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Armenia<\/a>.
